Episode # 279 - The Return of Odysseus

Martin Denton chats with playwright Steven Gridley about his new play The Return of Odysseus. Martin is very familiar with Steven's work, having published his first play, Sun, Stand Thou Still in NYTE's anthology Plays and Playwrights 2004. The discussion begins with talk of Steven's works and his current stint at Columbia University where he is working toward his MFA in playwriting. Steven talks about his style of writing and how Columbia has helped form his current thinking.
Steven introduces Jeff Auer who delivers a short monologue from this new play. Martin questions Jeff about his preparation for this most interesting part and then turns to Allison Taylor, artistic director of Apple Core Theater Company who will be producing it.
Allison talks of how she, too, is at Columbia and her interaction there with Steven which led to her decision to produce his play at this time.
Also noted is Steven's next production, 12 Labors, which will premiere at Des Moines Social Club in June.
