Martin Denton introduces playwright/performers Tim Collins and Chris Harcum on this new episode of the nytheatrecast. Tim and Chris are both represented in NYTE Small Press' latest anthology Plays and Playwrights 2009 with their solo pieces A Fire As Bright As Heaven and American Badass, or 12 Characters In Search of a National Identity, respectively. Martin notes how very different both pieces are although they deal with a similar theme ' the politics of the last seven years -- and asks each to give some background on their theme and style.
Most interesting is the camaraderie and ease that forms between these two artists who had never met before as they chat about working as solo performers.
These are two of eleven plays that make up Plays and Playwrights 2009. Hearing about what the authors think of their own work makes for a fascinating listen.
